So, at Romantic Times Book Lovers Convention, when I saw I could chat with Ally Carter, author of tons of wicked cool YA novels, well, I had to stop and chat with Ally Carter. My lead-in was that I knew her agent, Kristin Nelson, who represents tons of wicked cool YA authors. So I gushed for a bit because her novels are so cool and she is really good with titles. Cross My Heart and Hope To Spy, Heist Society, just to name a couple. Wicked cool.
I asked Ally Carter how she gets through the ups and downs of being a writer.
Her reply? A question. Do you cry every day? You should try it. It helps. Ha.
She said it doesn’t get easier with great success, but you learn how to deal with the crazy better.
And as an author, I have friends in the publishing industry who always have something bad happening to them, so it goes around, like a plague. Infectious bad mojo but we can suffer through it.
I think that’s a great way to live, knowing that bad stuff is going to happen to you, but then, bad stuff happens to everyone now and again. But then good stuff happens as well. So we struggle through the bad, get to the good, and then, wave goodbye when the good leaves us for our best friend. Then we get to practice handling envy.
I wish Ally Carter every success and only good times.
